6A THURSDAY, AUGUST 12, 2004' m THE TIMES RECORD/ROANE COUNTY REPORTER OBITUARIES Willadean Amos Willadean Amos, 76, of Nobe, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2004 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hosptial, Parkersburg. She was born June 23, 1928 in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late James and Fonda Radalbaugh Whipkey. She was a lifelong member of Chapel Baptist Church, Nobe. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Delbert J. Amos; four sons, Roger of Burnt House, Charles of Walker, Dennis of Mar- tinsburg and Paul of Alabama; four daughters, Rochelle Brann of Utah, Sandra Francis of Wyoming, Junc McCloy and Joan Smith, both of Parkersburg; three brothers, two sisters, one foster brother, 23 grandchildren and 18 great-grand- children. Funeral services were held Wednesday, August' 11 at Chapel Baptist Church, Nobe, with Rev. Kevin Church and Rev. Loris Roberts officiating. Interment was in Nobe Cemetery. Stump Funeral Home was in charge of arrange- ments. Harlie Lee Cole Harlie Lee Cole, 85, of Sallisaw, Okla., died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2004 in Sallisaw. He was born Dec. 16, 1918 in Wagoner, Okla., the son of John Lee Cole and Anzo Meadows Cole. He grew up in West Virginia and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army and roselo the rank of Staff Sgt. as a machine gun trainer. lie was a long time elder at Church of Christ in Trenton, Mich. and a member of American Legion Post #27.. He was survived by his wife, Nellie Mae Moss; two sons, David of Searcy, Ark. and Michael of Tulsa, Okla.; five sisters, Minnie Owens of Kanawha City, Josephine Fogt of Akron, Ohio; Pauline Fasick of Edgewater, Md.; Cathy Herman of Pineville, N.C, and Jackie Hensley of Elkton, Va.; three brothers, Billie of Sacramento, Calif.; John of Akron, Ohio and Basil of Cowen, four grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. Services were Tuesday, Aug. 10, at Church of Christ in Sallisaw, with Bro. Royce Martin officiating. Burial was in Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Kay Frances Coon Kay Frances Wyatt Coon, 63, of Harlem, Ca., died Friday, Aug. 2, 2004 at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Clinic in Augusta, Ga, She was born May 19, 1941, a daughter of the late Carl and era Mae Wyatt. She was a homemaker, enjoyed painting and drawing, read- ing and flower gardening. She at- tened the Fellowship Baptist Church in Grovetown, Ga. She is survived by her husband, Quellen Coon; a son, David Coon of Harlem; three sisters, Mary Dye and Barbara Craft, both of Spencer and Judy McCracken of Buckannon; and a brother, Carlos Wyatt of Spencer. Graveside services were held Sat- urday, August 7, at the Hebron Cemetery near Spencer. "Harley" McKown G.H. "Harley" McKown, 86, of Beech died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004 at his home. He was a Christian and attended Mile Community Church, Minnora and was a member.of the former IOOF Lodge at Minnora. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Madge Houchin McKown; three sons, Donald McKown of Murraysville, and Bradley and Wendell McKown, both of Orma; two daughters, Shirley Jett of Doylestown, Ohio, and Karen Elli- son of Orma; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenna J. and Addle Nor- man McKown; four brothers, Den- ver, Thurman, Cleddie and Donald McKown; one sister, Hazel Bowers; and two grandsons. Service was Saturday at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Inter- ment was in Bailey Cemetery. Harry M. Phillips Harry M. Phillips, 83, of Gal- lipolis, Ohio, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004 at Holzer Medical Center. He was born at Ottawa, a son of the late Webb and Eliza Syner Phillips. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific Theater. He was raised in Walton and lived in Gallia County, Ohio, since 1952. He was a retired farmer and former employee of Buckeye Rural Electric Co. and the Carter & Evans Construction Co. He attended Clark Chapel Church and enjoyed helping neighbors. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Eakins Phillips; one sister, Viola M. Phillips of Gal- lipolis; three nieces and two nephews. In addition to his .parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William E. "Bill" and Thomas H. "Tom" Phillips; and one sister, Mary O. Smith. Service was Saturday at McCoy- Moore Funeral Home, Gallipolis, with Pastor Jim Phillips and Pastor Clyde Ferrell officiating. Burial was in Ohio Valley Memory Gardens with military graveside rites by the Gallia County Veterans Service Organization. Freda Roberts Freda Roberts, 92, of Morenci, Mich., formerly of Spencer, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004. She was born in Kincheloe, a daughter of the late Waitman T. and Florence Curry Smith. She was re- tired from the Roane County Board of Education and was a member of First Baptist Church of Spencer. After moving to Morenci in 1996, she joined the Morenci First Con- gregational Church as an associate member. She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Gandee of Morenci; one brother, Eugene Smith; two grand- children and three great-grandchil- dren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her hus- band, Cloyd Roberts; six brothers, Lee, Fred, Roy, Don, Wayne and Doyle Smith; and two sisters, Mil- dred Huff and Minnie Wilson.
